Fife Homes Asking Prices Up 5% (3 min read)

With Rightmove announcing a national drop of 0.3% in average asking prices in August, some are asking if the steam has been let out of the property market. Yet with the gains we have seen in the last 12 months, is this just a minor bump in the road? Alarm bells normally ring when new homeowners coming to the market for the first time are having to lower their initial asking price when compared to the market as a whole. PODCAST: https://anchor.fm/fife-properties/episodes/FPTV-EP-54-STRUGGLING-TO-SELL-in-FIFE-Is-It-Your-Price–Or-Is-It-Something-Else-e16iq9s

Despite the strongest market in a decade with property selling faster than ever, there are still homes in Fife that have not sold.

If you’ve been on the market for some time, you could be wondering why on earth you don’t have a buyer when demand is so high. With a backdrop of record-breaking prices, selling speeds and low supply, it’s far easier for an agent to make a sale than to fail, so why is your home not under offer? FP TV (EP 46) Is Fife Heading Towards a House Price Crash? (Watch/read/listen)

PODCAST: https://anchor.fm/fife-properties/episodes/FP-TV-EP-46-Is-Fife-Heading-Towards-a-House-Price-Crash-e13s29j

Fife house prices dropped by 1.8% last month, according to the Land Registry.

This means the annual rate of house price growth in Fife has eased to 8.7%, a little way off the 10.8% yearly rate experienced only a few months ago. Don’t get me wrong, this is still decent growth in local house prices in anyone’s eyes, yet the ‘pedal to the metal’ growth rates seen only a few months ago do appear to be easing. An accidental landlord is someone who becomes a landlord by circumstance rather than by plan, and it can happen for several reasons. You could be relocating for work, moving in with your partner, or having trouble finding a buyer for your current home. Or you might have inherited a property.

GARDEN REVIVALS: Simple and Instant Tips to be ready for Spring Viewings (4 min read)

The weather may be confusing, but one thing is for sure: Spring is springing.

One of the biggest effects of lockdown on the 2020 property market was a massive surge of interest among buyers for gardens and balconies, and not just from green-fingered enthusiasts. People who’d never given gardens a second thought were suddenly sold on the value of being outside at home, and the demand went through the roof. A look back at the Fife housing market over the last decade

With everyone south of the border completing the Census a couple of weeks ago, it made me realise profoundly that mine and my family’s life, which from our own point of view seems unique and delightful, makes us all into a series of statistics for the Census gatherers to pore over. To digest and regurgitate facts, figures and trends for those who are interested in the ever-changing social circumstances of these islands.
